Does this bag fit the ShredMATIC SM 300?
Yes. The SM 300 has an 11-gallon locking bin, which sits at the bottom of this bag's 11 to 19 gallon range. The 20724 is the correct Dahle part for it. The smaller ShredMATIC SM 90, with a 7-gallon bin, falls below this band and is not a match for the 20724.
How many bags are in a box, and is there a smaller pack?
100 bags per box, and no, there is no smaller pack at this part number. Dahle supplies its 11-19, 20-30, 31-55 and 56-70 gallon bags in 100-count boxes; only the smallest size (20723) comes as 200 and only the largest (20737) as 50.
Is the 20724 the same as the 20723 in a different size?
Same construction, different dimensions and pack count. Both are 1.5 mil gusseted plastic. The 20723 measures 12 x 24 x 12 inches for 8-10 gallon bins and ships 200 per box; the 20724 measures 16 x 30 x 14 inches for 11-19 gallon bins and ships 100 per box. They are not interchangeable.
What happens if I use a bag that is too large for the bin?
An oversized bag folds over inside the cabinet and the surplus material sits in the shred path, where it can be caught and drawn in. It also gives a false impression of how full the bin is. Matching the bag band to the stated bin volume avoids both problems, which is why Dahle sizes the range by gallon capacity rather than by model.
