Description

Dahle's smallest shred bag: 12 x 24 x 12 inches, 1.5 mil plastic, sized for shredder cabinets with an 8 to 10 gallon waste bin. It is also the only bag in the Dahle range supplied 200 to a box rather than 100, which reflects how quickly a small deskside bin fills. Gusseted sides let the bag open out to the full width of the bin instead of pinching in the corners, so you get the volume you paid for before the bag needs changing.

Compatible Models

This bag fits any shredder bin rated 8 to 10 gallons. Be aware that no current Dahle cabinet falls squarely in that band:

  • Below it — the 7-gallon PaperSAFE® PS 240, PS 260 and PS 380 and the ShredMATIC® SM 90, the 6-gallon Dahle 20434DS, and the 4-gallon PaperSAFE® PS 100 and PS 140
  • Above it — the 11-gallon ShredMATIC® SM 300 and Dahle 52214, which take the 20724 bag instead

In other words, 20723 is the right choice for a general 8-10 gallon deskside or small-office bin, including non-Dahle machines in that size class. Note that PaperSAFE® models are designed to have the bin tipped out directly and are not supplied to run on a bag.

Specifications

Part number 20723-12606
Fits bin volume 8-10 gallons
Bag dimensions 12 x 24 x 12 in
Material and thickness 1.5 mil plastic, gusseted sides
Pack quantity 200 bags per box
Box weight 6 lb
Warranty 90 days

At 200 bags a box this is a long-cycle purchase for most offices — a machine emptied daily will run most of a working year on one box. Store the roll somewhere dry; thin-gauge polythene stiffens in cold storerooms and is more prone to tearing when pulled over a bin rim.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will the 20723 fit my Dahle 52214 or ShredMATIC SM 300?

No. Both of those machines have an 11-gallon bin, which sits above this bag's 8-10 gallon band. Order the 20724 instead, which covers 11 to 19 gallons and measures 16 x 30 x 14 inches. Forcing a 20723 into an 11-gallon bin leaves the bag short at the rim and it will pull down into the cabinet as the bin fills.

How many bags come in a box?

200 bags. This is the only Dahle shred bag supplied in a 200-count box; every other size in the range is 100 per box except the largest (20737), which is 50. There is no smaller pack option at this part number, so 200 is the minimum order.

Are these bags strong enough for shredded paper?

For an 8-10 gallon bin, yes. The 1.5 mil gauge is the same used on Dahle's 11-19, 20-30 and 31-55 gallon bags, and a full bag at this size weighs comparatively little. Micro-cut shred is denser than strip-cut for the same volume, so lift from underneath rather than by the neck alone if your machine is a P-6 or P-7 model.

Do PaperSAFE shredders use this bag?

No. Dahle's PaperSAFE range is built around a bin that is tipped out directly rather than lined with a bag, so there is no bag part number for those machines. If you have a PS 100, PS 140, PS 240, PS 260 or PS 380, you do not need to order shred bags at all.

Can I use a generic bin liner instead?

You can, provided it is genuinely the right size. The point of the Dahle bag is the gusset, which lets it expand to the cabinet's full internal width; a plain flat liner of the same nominal capacity will hold noticeably less before it needs changing. Undersized liners also slip off the retaining rim, which spills shred into the cabinet.
