The Dahle PowerTEC 707 PS is a floor-standing P-7 shredder for paper only. It cuts 1 x 5 mm particles, takes 11 sheets of #20 bond per pass, and appears on the NSA/CSS Evaluated Products List with a High volume rating. Its 16-inch feed and 53-gallon bin handle nothing but documents, so it is aimed at secure records rooms, SCIFs and government mailrooms where classified paper is the only material destroyed.

Why a paper-only PowerTEC makes sense

The PowerTEC 700 series also includes the 727 CS and 747 CS, which share a cabinet with a separate disc head and bin and narrow the paper feed to 9 inches as a result. The 707 PS leaves the optical head out. That gives it a 16-inch throat, so legal sheets enter on the short edge and 11 x 17 tabloid enters without folding. All 53 gallons of the bin also go to paper. For an office that never has to destroy discs, it delivers the most P-7 paper capacity of the three.

NSA/CSS 02-01 status in plain terms

A P-7 label alone does not make a shredder NSA-approved. NSA/CSS 02-01 requires particles no bigger than 1 x 5 mm, and it also requires the specific model to be on the Evaluated Products List. The 707 PS meets both conditions, appearing on the list as "707PS" with a High volume rating. Its 5 mm² particle is also the finest class in DIN 66399. Because the EPL is revised every quarter, check the current edition before certifying the machine.

Installation and ownership of the 707 PS

The 707 PS weighs 320 lb but sits on rolling casters, so you can place it inside the secure room. It needs only a standard 115 V supply, whereas the larger PowerTEC 828 HD, 909 HS, 919 IS and 929 IS need 220 V three-phase. The chain drive runs without slip, and the motor is thermally protected and rated for continuous use. Automatic jam protection reverses an overload, a self-cleaning cycle clears residue from the head, and rubber shock mounts keep the rated noise to 55 dB.

The automatic EvenFlow Lubricator keeps the cylinders oiled, so ongoing costs come down to lubricant, liners for the 53-gallon bin (Dahle publishes no bag part number for this model), and replacement cutting cylinders in time.

Who the 707 PS suits

It suits an operation destroying large volumes of top-secret paper on standard power, especially one that handles legal or tabloid stock. Choose a CS model if discs are in scope. If you only shred a few folders a week, a P-7 machine at this level is more than you need, and an office P-4 shredder will cost far less to buy and run.
