ACCO says it suits all GBC shredders and also shredders from other makers. The manuals for the GBC CX22-44 and CX34-44 commercial cabinets name this part directly. The exception is a machine with ACCO's automatic SelfOil reservoir, which should be filled with the 1 liter oil, part 1753190.
How do you oil a shredder with the 16 oz GBC bottle?
It depends on the machine. On a standard hand-fed shredder, drizzle a few lines of oil across a sheet of paper and shred it. On GBC Jam Free and Stack-and-Shred models such as the AutoFeed+ range, pour the oil into the built-in reservoir instead. Check the manual if you are unsure which type you own.
How often should a paper shredder be oiled?
Oiling every time you empty the bin is a practical rule. Micro-cut and other fine-cut machines create more dust and benefit from oiling more often than coarse cross-cut models. Regular oiling helps the shredder keep its rated sheet capacity and reduces jams.
Can I use WD-40 or cooking oil instead of GBC shredder oil?
No. Aerosol sprays carry flammable propellant into a machine that is warm and full of paper dust, and household or penetrating oils can attack plastic parts. Using them can also give the manufacturer grounds to reject a warranty claim. A dedicated shredder oil such as part 1760049 avoids those risks.
