Industrial shredders are specified differently from office machines. The number that matters is not sheet capacity but duty rating: these are motors designed to run continuously under load rather than for a few minutes at a time. Everything else — throat width, throughput, bin or baler capacity — follows from that.

The machines in this range are floor-standing and, in most cases, three-phase. intimus 14.95, 16.50S and 16.86 models run at 220 V/60 Hz three-phase with throats of 17–20 inches and throughput from roughly 140 to 550 sheets per pass depending on cut size. Security levels here sit at the coarser end — typically P-2 and P-3 — because industrial work is about volume reduction rather than confidentiality. If you need both volume and a high security level, expect throughput to fall sharply.

Plan the installation before you order. Three-phase machines need an electrician and a dedicated circuit, and the larger models need forklift access and a floor that will take the weight. Output handling matters too: loose shredded paper is bulky, which is why several buyers at this level move to a shredder-baler combination instead.
